Ebook Cover Maker
Type a title, author and publisher name and get an e-book cover that passes self-publishing platform checks, inserted straight into your EPUB. A compliance tool, not a design tool.
Windows program · MIT · v0.1.0 · Updated 2026-10-14
For Windows. The file is unsigned, so if "Windows protected your PC" appears the first time, choose "More info → Run anyway".
Chaekgalpi Tools are made by the person who runs Chaekgalpi Library, a Korean-language web service for keeping a reading log. About Chaekgalpi Library (Korean) →
How to use
- Download ebook-cover-maker.exe and run it (no install).
- Enter the title, author and publisher name, then pick a size preset, one of four templates and a colour scheme. The preview updates immediately. You can add a background photo.
- "Save" writes cover.jpg; "Insert into EPUB" creates
original_cover.epuband leaves the original untouched.
Cover rules it follows
- Width 600–1000 px (700×1000 recommended); default preset 800×1200 (2:3), as required by Upaper, a Korean self-publishing platform.
- The publisher name is always drawn in the bottom 10 % of the cover; if it is empty, saving is locked and the reason is shown.
- JPG (quality 90), RGB. PNG is also available.
- In the EPUB the cover is registered in the metadata and placed as the first page; an existing cover is replaced.
What it does not do
- No free-form editing (dragging text, layers). It is not Canva.
- No illustration or photo generation.
- No print covers (spine, back, bleed).
- No extra fonts. Only the three bundled Noto CJK fonts (body, title, serif).
Since v0.1.1, the program sends only its name and version to the Chaekgalpi server when it starts, to check whether a newer version exists. No file is sent, it asks once a day, and you can turn it off in the settings.
Other tools in this group
- TXT to EPUB — Turns a plain-text file into an EPUB e-book without garbled characters. Chapter headings are detected and a table of contents is built.
- EPUB Font Unlock — Removes the hard-coded fonts from an EPUB whose typeface will not change on your e-reader, so you can read it in the font you choose.
- Upaper EPUB Checker — Checks an EPUB before you submit it to Upaper, a Korean self-publishing platform. Catches rejection causes in advance: cover, copyright page, table of contents, forbidden tags.
